Ingredients to make Raw banana bharta

  • Raw banana large 1
  • water 2 cups
  • turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  • mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Dry Red Chillies 2
  • asafoetida a pinch
  • salt as per your taste
  • curry leaves 10- 15
  • oil 1 tablespoon

How to make Raw banana bharta

  1. First in a pressure cooker add 2 cups of water and turmeric powder and put it on gas
  2. Now peel the banana and cut into half
  3. Add the bananas into the pressure cooker and close the lid
  4. Cook for 2 whistles
  5. After 2 whistles switch off the flame.
  6. Let the pressure settle down by itself
  7. When the pressure cooker cooks down take out the bananas and keep aside to cool down
  8. Now take a potato masher and mash the bananas till no pieces are left.
  9. The bananas should become like thick paste
  10. Now to make tempering take a pan
  11. Add oil
  12. When the oil becomes hot add the mustard seeds
  13. When the mustard seeds crackle add dry chillies
  14. Now add curry leaves
  15. Saute a little
  16. Next add asafoetida
  17. Now add salt
  18. Not w add the mashed bananas
  19. Mix well till the banana is combined well with the tempering ingredients
  20. Serve hot with plain rice

My Tip:

Mash the banana properly so as to get a smooth thick paste.
