Banana Gulab Jamun

Ingredients to make Banana Gulab Jamun

  • Ripe banana- 4
  • maida/flour-6 tablespoons
  • paneer- 1 cup
  • Rose water - 1 teaspoon
  • Mewa-1/4 cup
  • Baking powder -1 teaspoon
  • Saunf or fennel powder -1 teaspoon
  • Elachi or cardamom powder-1 teaspoon
  • ghee or oil for frying -1/2 cup
  • sugar-3/4 cup
  • water-1 cup
  • cardamom powder-1/2 teaspoon
  • saffron - few strands (optional)

How to make Banana Gulab Jamun

  1. In a bowl mash banana with hands, then grind without water in a grinder
  2. Now add maida and knead thoroughly
  3. In another bowl, mash paneer with hands.Then add rose water and knead it again.
  4. Now add the paneer to banana maida dough, add mewa, cardamom powder, baking powder, mix well and knead to make a soft dough.
  5. Meanwhile roll small equal sized balls out of the dough we prepared. Grease your hands with ghee every time you shape the balls
  6. Heat oil in a kadhai, when it is hot, put the flame to low and drop the jamuns into it. You can try few at a time, depending upon the kadhai you take. Put the flame to medium and keep turning every now and then to ensure even cooking
  7. Once deep in golden colour, drain on paper towel, repeat to finish all the jamuns. Give 2 minutes standing time and then add it to the sugar syrup.
  8. Give at least 3-4 hours standing time before eating the sweet for best result.
  9. Do not add hot jamuns in hot syrup. It will get shrunken.
  10. Garnish with silver foil and saffron strands if you want
