Bhapa doi or steamed yogurt is a Bengali sweet dish.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Hung curd 1 cup
  2. Condensed milk 1 cup
  3. Milk 3/4 cup
  4. Cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Pomegranate juice 3 cups
  6. Lemon juice 1/2 tablespoon
  7. Sugar 2 tablespoon
  8. Few pomegranate seeds for garnishing.

Instructions

  1. In a bowl whisk together hung curd, condensed milk, milk and cardamom powder till you get a smooth mixture without any lumps.
  2. Take microwave safe bowls and grease it lightly with oil.
  3. Pour the mixture into the bowls.
  4. Preheat oven to 180 C.
  5. Now fill a large baking tray with water and then put the curd bowls in it so that the water is till half of the tray. This technique is called bain-marie
  6. Now bake it for 25 minutes.
  7. In the meantime prepare the pomegranate sauce.
  8. In a deep pan take pomegranate juice and add sugar and lemon juice to it.
  9. Cook it on slow flame till you get sauce consistency.
  10. When done let it cool down
  11. Once the bhapa doi is baked let it cool down completely.
  12. Run a knife around it and invert it on a plate.
  13. Now pour some sauce over it.
  14. Garnish with few pomegranate seeds and serve.
