Multani Masoor Daal

Ingredients to make Multani Masoor Daal

  • masoor dal 1 cup (soaked overnight)
  • onion 1 (chopped )
  • sugar 1 tsp
  • cinnamon stick 1 inch
  • ghee 2 tbsp
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • jeera powder 1/2 tsp
  • ginger 1 tsp (grated )
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • red chilli 1 sliced
  • curd 3 tbsp
  • cream 1 tbsp
  • coriander leaves 1 tbsp chopped
  • salt to taste

How to make Multani Masoor Daal

  1. Heat ghee in a cooker
  2. Add sugar and melt till golden
  3. Add onion
  4. Add cinnamon stick
  5. When onion is golden, add soaked daal with double quantity water
  6. Add red chilli powder
  7. Add dhania powder
  8. Add salt
  9. Add ginger
  10. Cook for 10 minutes on slow heat after a whistle
  11. Open the lid when pressure drops
  12. Add curd
  13. Add garam masala
  14. Add sliced red chilli
  15. Add cream
  16. Cook for 5 minutes on slow heat
  17. Add coal dhuan if you prefer
  18. Garnish with coriander leaves
  19. Serve hot with roti and steamed rice

My Tip:

In parties I prefer to add cream and grated paneer on top
