Though a simple dish, but a must for new mothers and elderly people

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Whole moong aur masoor daal mix 1 cup
  2. Salt to taste
  3. Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon
  4. Ginger 1 inch piece finely chopped
  5. Garlic 2 or 3 pods, finely chopped
  6. Cumin seed 1/8 tea spoon
  7. Desi ghee as per requirement
  8. Coriander leaves chopped 1 tea spoon


  1. Soak both the daals for 10 minutes
  2. Now pressure cook daal with adequate water. I used 4 times water with salt and turmeric powder. Give 4 whistle cooking
  3. Take a tadka pan, heat desi ghee put ginger and garlic and let it brown, now add it in daal and give a good stir
  4. Serve to new mother with an extra tadka of cumin seed for lactation and put coriander leaves as garnish.
  5. For elderly people extra tadka step could be skipped
