About Bottle gourd gravy Recipe

Bottle gourd gravy

Ingredients to make Bottle gourd gravy

  • bottle gourd - 1 medium size
  • Moong dhal(split) - 1/2 cup
  • Onion + tomato - 2
  • red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Sambar powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves & curry leaves
  • Ground coconut - 1 tbsp
  • poppy seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • fennel seeds 1/2 tsp
  • garlic ginger paste - 1 tsp
  • For seasoning: mustard seeds - 1tsp
  • cumin seed - 1 tsp

How to make Bottle gourd gravy

  1. Chop bottle gourd into square shape. In a pressure pan add oil, season with ingredients mentioned under seasoning.
  2. Add onion, saute well, add tomatoes, bottle gourd pieces, saute well.
  3. Add red chilli powder, sambar powde, salt & mix well. Add moong dhal and enough water and pressure cook for one whistle.
  4. When steam subsides, open the cooker, add grinded paste , garam masala and allow the mix to boil, switch off the flame.
