ABOUT Lal Chori Nu Shaak(Adzuki Beans/Red Cowpeas) RECIPE

This is a high protein, iron and fiber rich beans cooked with some spices readily available at home into a delicious curry.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Lal chori-1 cup
  2. Tomato-1 big
  3. Onion- 1big
  4. Chilli garlic ginger paste-1 tsp
  5. Oil-1 tbsp
  6. Cumin seeds-1 tsp
  7. Asafoetida-1 pinch
  8. Salt
  9. Turmeric-1/4 tsp
  10. Chili powder-1 tsp
  11. Cumin powder-1 tsp
  12. Coriander powder-1 tsp
  13. Garam masala-1 tsp
  14. Lemon juice-1 tsp
  15. Jaggery-1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak chori for 4 hours.
  2. After 4 hours remove water and put it in a cooker with 3 cups of fresh water and salt.
  3. Cook for 5 to 6 whistles.
  4. After it cools, take a pan and heat oil.
  5. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida.
  6. Then add ginger garlic paste and chopped onions.
  7. After onions are cooked add chopped tomatoes and saute till they become soft.
  8. Add all the spices and mix.
  9. Now add the boiled chori with the water.
  10. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  11. Add lemon juice and jaggery.
  12. Lastly, garnish with coriander and serve hot with pulkas and rice.
