ABOUT Green Beans Pulao RECIPE

Tender, long and juicy beans are a vegetarian's delight. This is an hassle free easy peasy dish made with in just a matter of few minutes and that too from the leftover white boiled rice. It not only puts the leftovers to a brilliant use but also becomes nutritious with the addition of green beans to it. An instant lunch idea for everyone including the working mothers. These beans have many health benefits too. They contain many minerals like magnesium,calcium,iron etc and has even omega 3 fatty acids. Unlike other veggies, even the frozen beans can retain their nutritive value.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Leftover White Rice - 3 cups
  2. Green beans - 1/2 kg
  3. Onions, sliced - 2
  4. Bay leaves - 2 - 3
  5. Ghee - 3 tbsp
  6. Chilli flakes - 1 tbsp
  7. Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
  8. Cinnamon Sticks - 2-3
  9. Garam masala - 1 tsp
  10. Chana masala - 2 tbsp
  11. Coriander leaves finely chopped a fistful


  1. Wash and cut the beans into pretty much smaller pieces. It depends on your choice. You can keep them a little big too.
  2. Heat ghee in a cooking pot, add the cumin seeds first. After a few seconds, add the garlic mince and the sliced onions. Saute them well until the raw smell fades away.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients too. Now add the beans and mix them all. Cover and cook until done. Do not overcook. It is usually done in 7-8 mins on medium flame.
  4. Now add the cooked beans in heated leftover rice and mix well. Cover with a lid for the next 5 mins on a low flame. Garnish with coriander and serve hot with raita.
