A famous potato based Indian curry served with pooris, each region has a version of its own, so here is mine.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Potatoes [cubed] - 2
  2. onions - 2 [chopped]
  3. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  4. Cashew nuts - 10
  5. tomatoes - 2 [blended into puree]
  6. turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  7. chilly powder - 1 tsp
  8. chicken masala powder - 2 tsp
  9. salt
  10. refined oil


  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add onion then ginger-garlic paste and onion paste.
  2. cook for 5 minutes, colour of the onion changes to golden brown.
  3. Add the blended tomatoes.Stir on heat for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, chicken masala powder, salt and stir lightly till oil separates..
  5. Make a paste of the cashew nuts with very little water. Add this paste and salt to the cooking masala.
  6. Boil the potatoes before hand and dice them into cubes. Add these boiled potatoes into the masala. Stir well.
  7. Cover the lid and cook the potatoes along with the masala for sometime and then check for the seasoning. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
