Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For the marination :
  2. Boneless chicken pieces - 500 gm
  3. Curd - 1 cup
  4. Cumin powder - 2 tsp
  5. Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
  6. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  7. Haldi powder - 1/2 tsp
  8. Chilly powder - 1 tsp
  9. lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  10. Crushed cloves - 1/2 tsp
  11. Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  12. Salt
  13. For the tikka masala gravy :
  14. Tomato puree - 1 cup
  15. Onion (chopped) - 1
  16. Red Chilly powder - 1 tsp
  17. Kashmiri Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  18. Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
  19. Curd - 2 tbsp
  20. Cardamom - 2
  21. Cinnamon - 1
  22. Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  23. Kasuri methi - 1/2 tsp
  24. Salt
  25. Refined oil

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients mentioned under "marination" and add the chicken pieces into it.
  2. Keep the chicken marinated overnight .
  3. Take a griddle pan and heat some oil in it.
  4. Add the chicken pieces that were marinating. Roast them on all the sides. Alternatively the chicken can also be cooked in an oven or in a tandoor.
  5. Keep the chicken pieces aside and do not throw away the left over marination.
  6. Now in a heavy bottomed kadhai, heat oil.
  7. Add the cardamom and cinnamon followed by the chopped onion.
  8. Saute till golden brown and then add the ginger garlic paste.
  9. Once the raw smell is gone, add the powdered masalas, salt and stir.
  10. Cool for few seconds and then add the tomato puree.
  11. Cook on a low flame with a lid on with occasional stirring.
  12. Then add the curd and left over marination into the masala.
  13. Cook further till the masala leaves oil.
  14. Add water and bring upto boil.
  15. Then add the cooked chicken pieces, fry the masala on a high flame for few seconds.
  16. Finally crush the kasuri methi and add into it. Check for salt and then serve.
