Pulao is very popular Preparation all over the India ,The Basanti Pulao is popular in Bengal & slightly sweet in taste because of the use of sugar in it and so it goes well with very hot and spicy curries. Its color is yellow thats why its name is basanti pulao.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rice 1 cup long grain
  2. Butter 2tsp
  3. Oil 1tsp
  4. Ginger grated 1tsp
  5. Cumin seeds 1tsp
  6. Garam masala 1tsp
  7. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  8. Red chillie powder 1tsp
  9. Cashew 1/4 cup
  10. Raisins 1/4 Cup
  11. Bay leaf 2
  12. Cloves 4
  13. Cardamom black 1
  14. Cardamom green 1
  15. Cinnamon small stick
  16. sugar 1tsp
  17. Salt to taste


  1. Soak rice for half an hour
  2. Now drain water add butter, garam masala, Ginger, turmeric and salt
  3. Now leave this for 1/2 an hour.
  4. Now take a pan heat oil in low flame add cumin seeds when crackle add cashew
  5. Cook till brown
  6. Now add raisin, cloves , Cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaf and ,red chillie powder stir it and cook it
  7. now add rice stir
  8. Cook for 2 minutes, Add 2 cup warm water put gas on medium flame.
  9. Cover lid cook for 8 minutes
  10. Now put gas on low flame
  11. add sugar and little salt Mix well
  12. Now cook for another 2 minutes
  13. Pulao is ready to serve.
