ABOUT Moong Dal Tadka RECIPE

An easy moong dal recipe to be served with some steamed rice.

Ingredients Serving: 9

  1. Moong Dal - 2 cups
  2. Tomato pieces - 1/2 cup
  3. ghee - 6 spoons
  4. Coriander and curry leaves [chopped] - 4 tbsp
  5. Coriander powder - 1 spoon
  6. turmeric powder - 2 spoons ,
  7. mustard seeds - 1 spoon,
  8. salt - 1/2 spoon,
  9. red chilli powder - 1/2 spoon
  10. jeera [cumin seeds] - 1 spoon,
  11. Dry red chillis - 2

Instructions

  1. Wash the soaked moong dal and cook in a pressure cooker with required amount of water.
  2. Heat some ghee in a pan, add turmeric powder followed by the tomato pieces. Cook till the tomatoes are mushy and cooked.
  3. Add all the powdered masalas into the tomatoes in the pan, add required amount of salt, and cook till the masala leaves oil.
  4. Now mix this cooked tomato masala into the dal, give it a mix.
  5. To make the tempering, heat some ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds, dry red chillies and cumin seeds. Once they splutter , add the tempering into the dal.
