ABOUT Scones RECIPE

These delicious scones are best straight from the oven. Serve with jam or clotted cream.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Plain flour 450 gm + extra for dusting
  2. 1/2tsp Salt
  3. Baking powder 2 tsp
  4. Butter 55 gm
  5. Castor sugar 2 tbsp
  6. Milk 250 ml + for glazing
  7. Any flavour of jam or cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven at 220 c for 15mins.
  2. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder.
  3. Rub the butter until the mixture resembles bread crumbs.
  4. Stir the sugar.
  5. Make a well in the centre.
  6. And pour the milk.
  7. Stir and make a soft dough.
  8. Turn the dough onto the floured surface.
  9. Lightly flatten the dough with an even thickness.
  10. It should be about 1/2 inch.
  11. Don't be heavy handed.
  12. Use 6 cm pastry or biscuit cutter.
  13. Grease the baking tray.
  14. Cut the scones and place on a baking tray.
  15. Glaze with a little milk.
  16. Bake for 10 to 12 mins until golden and well risen.
  17. Cool on wire rack and serve freshly with jam or clotted cream.
