Classic Scones

Ingredients to make Classic Scones

  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 80 gms butter cut in cubes
  • 4 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 egg beaten
  • salt Pinch
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 8-9 tsp clotted cream for serving
  • 8-9 tsp berry jam for serving

How to make Classic Scones

  1. Preheat oven to 180, line baking tray with parchment paper
  2. Mix flour, salt, sugar, baking powder well. Add butter and mix until it's crumbled
  3. Add vanilla extract and lemon juice. Mix well
  4. Make well in centre, add warm milk. Using spoon mix everything. Now knead malleable soft dough
  5. Place dough in 4 cm round pan. Dip a 4-5 cm cookie cutter in flour and cut into rounds. Place on baking tray leaving gap between them. Do until dough is completed. Brush the top of scones with beaten egg
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden on top or until scones are risen
  7. Allow to cool slightly. Cut the scone from centre. Apply jam and top with cream. Serve warm
