Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Small onions 8-10
  2. Saunf 1 teaspoon
  3. Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  4. Methi Dana 1/4 th teaspoon
  5. Onion seeds /Kalonji 1/4 th teaspoon
  6. Oil 1 tablespoon
  7. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  8. Red chilly powder 2 teaspoons
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Vinegar /Lemon juice 1 tablespoon
  11. Heeng or asafoetida 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Peel of onions and give them cut in X-shape (cross) just like we give cuts for stuffed sabjis
  2. Switch on gas and heat a tawa
  3. Dry roast methi dana, saunf and mustard seeds till they start sputtering
  4. Swich off the gas and allow it to cool and later make a fine powder in mixie grinder
  5. Add this mixture, red chilly powder, haldi /turmeric powder and salt. this we will stuff into onions
  6. Take cut onions and stuff this masala into onions properly and keep aside
  7. Heat oil in a pan and add heeng and onion seeds and allow it to cool and add lemon juice or vinegar to it
  8. Pour this mixture on stuffed onion
  9. Mix well
  10. Instant onion pickle is ready to serve
