Vanila Panna Cotta with Pomegranate Glaze

ABOUT Vanila Panna Cotta with Pomegranate Glaze RECIPE

A classic Italian dessert of sweetened cream thickened with gelatin and molded. Here I have successfully experimented this dessert with a replacement of gelatin. Many vegans and vegetarians choose not to eat food containing gelatin. So here I have avoided using it and instead used arrowroot powder.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Milk - 1 1/2 cup + 1/2 cup
  2. Fresh cream - 1 cup
  3. Arrowroot powder - 3 tablespoon
  4. Sugar - 1/2 cup
  5. Vanilla Essence - 1 teaspoon
  6. For the pomogranete glaze :
  7. Pomegranate - 3 (2 - for juice, 1 - for garnish)
  8. All purpose flour - 1 1/2 teaspoon
  9. Sugar - 3 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Boil the milk and sugar. Add the cream.
  2. Mix arrowroot powder in half cup milk and keep aside.
  3. Add the vanilla essence to the milk and cream mixture. Add the arrowroot milk gradually to the milk and cream mixture.
  4. Keep stirring. Within 2 minutes the mixture will thicken.
  5. Keep chilled ceramic cups ready. Pour the mixture in the cups.
  6. Refrigerate for an hour.
  7. To prepare the glaze:
  8. Take a sauce pan and add the pomegrenate juice, sugar, all purpose flour and keep stirring on medium to high flame.
  9. As soon as you get a thick but pouring consistency switch off the flame.
  10. Now let it cool.
  11. Take the chilled panna cotta and demold.
  12. Immerse the bottom side of cups in hot water for few seconds and loosen the sides with a knife or spoon.
  13. Inverse on a plate.
  14. Now pour the glaze on it with a spoon.
  15. Garnish with pomegranate seeds.
  16. Eat right away.
