Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 3 cups grated bottle gourd or lauki or dudhi
  2. 1/2 cup powdered sugar (can add more or less acc. to taste)
  3. 500ml full cream milk
  4. 4 green cardamoms(seeds removed and crushed)
  5. 1/4 cup mixed dry fruits
  6. 3 tablespoon ghee
  7. 1/4 cup skim milk powder


  1. Heat a deep pan and add milk and grated dudhi, let cook for 15 minutes.
  2. Bring the whole mixture to a boil and keep stirring on a low flame.Dissolve skim milk powder in 1/4 cup water and add to this mixture.
  3. The bottle gourd will become soft and when the milk starts reducing in quantity, add sugar into the mixture.
  4. Stir continously and add ghee and cardamom seeds.Cook for sometime until the sugar starts melting and the milk gets evaporated.
  5. Garnish the halwa with some green cardamoms and dry fruits and serve.
