About Banana Halwa Recipe

This is an easy halwa made with kerala banana (Nenthra pazham).This is so tasty and healthy. If we add ghee also the ghee will come out from the halwa at the last stage of cooking. Kids will love this. If we make this in 'uruli' this will get a dark brown color as I cooked in a non stick vessel this has got a golden color but the taste was too good.

Banana Halwa

Ingredients to make Banana Halwa

  • 6 big Nethrapazham
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 3/4 or 1 cup ghee
  • 1/2 cup Chopped (cashewnuts plain or roasted in ghee)
  • 2 tbsp Maida mixed with water thinly

How to make Banana Halwa

  1. In a non stick vessel put the sugar, water and boil. Boil till it slightly thickens. Add the chopped bananas and keep on stiring. Stir till all the bananas are cooked and fully mashed.
  2. While stirring, add ghee and maida mixture in small amounts. Keep on stirring till the mixture thickens and separates from the vessel. At this stage add the cardamom powder and cashew nuts.
  3. Mix well and stir for 2 or 3 minutes more till the ghee oozes out. Turn off the flame. Now transfer this halwa to a plate and smooth the top of the halwa.
  4. Let it cool for couple of hours. After cooling, cut into desired shape and serve.
