ABOUT Italian Flowers RECIPE

Italian flowers is recipe of ordinary samosa with a twist !! Main ingredients used are corn , oregano leaves and mashed potato. Carrot and cucumber spread gives a little more hint of yumminess along with veggies! I learnt this dish from my college friend!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For making outer layer of flower
  2. Maida / All purpose flour -1 cup
  3. Whole wheat flour -1 cup
  4. Ajwain 1 pinch
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Oil 1 teaspoon
  7. water to knead dough
  8. For making of inside stuffing
  9. Corn 1 cup
  10. Boiled and mashed potatoes 1 cup
  11. Ginger - Garlic Paste -1 teaspoon
  12. Finely chopped onion -1
  13. Finely chopped carrot -1
  14. Finely chopped capsicum /bell pepper -1/2
  15. Finely chopped Tomato -1
  16. Chopped coriander leaves
  17. Dry Oregano leaves 1 teaspoon
  18. Funfood's Carrot and cucumber spread -1 tablespoon
  19. Grated Cheese 1/2 cup
  20. Salt to taste
  21. Black pepper powder- a pinch
  22. Oil 1 teaspoon
  23. Butter 1 teaspoon
  24. Oil i to fry the stuffed flowers


  1. First of all we will knead a dough for outer layer
  2. For this we will mix all the ingredients mentioned and knead it with water
  3. Keep it aside for 15-20 minutes
  4. For preparing inside stuffing
  5. Heat 1 teaspoon butter and 1 teaspoon oil in a pan
  6. Add onions and saute till light pink
  7. Add ginger garlic paste, chopped tomatoes and let it cook for a minute
  8. Then Add chopped carrots , bell pepper and corns and allow it to cook on simmer for 2-3 minutes
  9. Add salt, black pepper powder, dry Oregano leaves, carrot and cucumber spread and mix it well
  10. Add mashed potatoes and grated cheese into this and mix it well
  11. Cook this for 2 minutes and finally add green Coriander leaves.
  12. Mixture is ready keep it aside.
  13. Now to prepare flower from dough we need to make medium sized balls from the dough
  14. Take one ball and roll it on rolling pin
  15. Now using knife, cut it in square shape.
  16. Now fold diagonally from four corners
  17. Now put it upside down slowly and stuff the stuffing in middle portion
  18. Now again fold 4 corners diagonally
  19. After folding from four corners, turn it upside down again and open the petals from corners as shown in picture
  20. In this way your flower is ready
  21. Now deep fry this flower in oil till golden yellow
  22. Similarly prepare other flowers, deep fry and keep them on tissue papers to soak excessive oil.
  23. Serve it with tomato ketchup.
