ABOUT vegetable jeera rice RECIPE

in this recipe first basmati rice is cooked with whole spices, then tempering is made from butter, cumin seeds, vegetables, after that cooked rice is added to tadka and mixed.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. for cooking rice-
  2. 1/2 cup basmati rice
  3. 3 cups water
  4. Salt to taste
  5. 1 inch cinamon stick
  6. 2 cloves
  7. 1 green cardamom
  8. 1 bayleaf
  9. Few Drops Lemon juice
  10. For tadka-
  11. 1 tbsp Butter
  12. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  13. 1 tbsp julienne carrots
  14. 1 tbsp julienne capsicum
  15. 1 green chilli
  16. Salt
  17. for garnishing-
  18. rose made from tomato skin
  19. Coriander leaves


  1. for cooking rice-
  2. wash the rice under running water till water runs clear, soak in enough water for at least 20 minutes.
  3. after 20 minutes drain the rice and take this rice in a pan
  4. add water, whole spices and salt
  5. turn the heat on medium flame and let come to a boil
  6. add lemon juice and then let it simmer for 15 minutes uncovered on medium-low heat
  7. check the rice grain, it should be cooked
  8. turn off the stove and drain the excess water using strainer
  9. then spread the rice on a plate
  10. let it cool for 10-15 minutes
  11. making jeera rice-
  12. heat butter in a pan on medium flame.
  13. add cumin seeds, saute till cumin seeds are light brown
  14. add carrots, capsicum and cook properly
  15. add green chilli, salt and cook for 30 seconds
  16. then add rice and stir gently till everything is mixed and incorporated well
  17. turn off the stove
  18. transfer the rice to a bowl and press with a spoon, unmould the rice onto a plate
  19. garnish with tomato rose and coriander leaves
