Ingredients to make sticky burnt toffee cake

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • cream according to the desired colour of toffee
  • 2/3rd cup sugar
  • 1/3rd cup honey/ golden syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to make sticky burnt toffee cake

  1. sift the cocoa powder, flour, baking soda in a bowl. double sift for finer quality. keep aside.
  2. in a hot pan and on low flame add 1/3rd cup butter, sugar, honey and let the sugar melt. once the sugar has melted, whisk in cream till the toffee sauce is slightly darker than the usual (desired) caramel colour. remove from flame.
  3. add this mixture to your dry ingredients. quickly add the egg, vanilla and the remaining butter while constantly whisking so that at any stage the toffee sauce doesn't get too tight to deal with.
  4. as a last step, fold in the baking powder and pour the mixture in a baking dish and put it in a pre-heated oven.
  5. bake at the regular temperature until cooked through.

My Tip:

always add the baking powder in the end and never whip too much after adding it. causes the cake to sink.
