ABOUT Mushroom Pasties RECIPE

A flaky crispy pasty filled with the goodness of mushroom and minimal spices, an alsolute delight to the palate.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For the pasties :
  2. Flour - 11/4 cups
  3. Butter - 1/2 cup
  4. Ice water - 3 tbsp
  5. For the mushroom filling :
  6. Button mushrooms (chopped) - 1 cup
  7. Onion (chopped) - 1
  8. Chopped garlic - 1 tsp
  9. Chopped ginger - 1 tsp
  10. Chopped green chillies - 2 tsp
  11. Mixed herbs - 1/2 tsp
  12. Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Olive oil
  15. Other ingredients : grated cheese ( I have used mozarella ,cheddar and red leicester)

Instructions

  1. In a food processor or mixer, add cold butter (the butter must be cold and cut into cubes), flour and pulsate in two or three pulses.
  2. Add ice water and pulsate or blend till everything is combined.Transfer the dough into a bowl and mix it, cover it and keep it refrigerated for 30 minutes.
  3. While the dough is chilling, let's make the mushroom filling for which you need to heat a pan with olive oil.
  4. Add the chopped garlic, ginger, green chillies. Once they smell, add chopped onion.
  5. Once the onions are slightly coloured, add the chopped mushrooms.
  6. Sprinkle mixed herbs and pepper powder and saute.
  7. Once the mushroom is cooked, then add the salt, fry for few seconds and keep it aside to cool.
  8. Now roll out the dough and cut small circles using a cookie cutter.
  9. Take a small roundel, place a dollop of the mushroom mixture.
  10. Place grated cheese on top of mushroom stuffings
  11. Apply little water on the sides of the roundel, place another dough roundel on top.
  12. Seal the edges by using a fork by pressing the ends together.
  13. Make a small cut on the top of each pasty and chill them in the fridge for 20 minutes..
  14. Bake them at 180 degree Celsius in a preheated oven for 30 minutes.
