Tawa Grilled Tilapia

Ingredients to make Tawa Grilled Tilapia

  • Tilapia fish - 2 whole fish
  • gram flour/ besan 2 teaspoon
  • garlic paste 1/4 teaspoon
  • ginger paste 1/4 teaspoon
  • turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
  • vinegar 1/4 teaspoon
  • fennel seed 1/4 teaspoon
  • Dried whole red chilly 3
  • oil for tawa grill 1 teaspoon
  • lemon wedges for garnishing

How to make Tawa Grilled Tilapia

  1. Clean the whole fish thoroughly under running water, ensure no scales are left
  2. Make three slit on each side of the fish, then marinate with vinegar, salt and keep aside for 5 minutes
  3. Simultaneously, dry grind fennel seed and whole red chilly
  4. Make a paste of besan, ginger/ garlic paste, turmeric, the above grinded powder and apply on the fish, evenly
  5. Ensure that the masala has been applied between the slits, keep the marination aside for another 20-25minutes
  6. Use a nonstick grill tawa, oil brush the pan and heat it
  7. Place the fish gently on the tawa and semi cook one side, then flip the fish and let the other side get semi-cooked
  8. Now, wait till you get the brown strips on the fish (as shown in the photo)
  9. Once done, serve with lemon wedges
