ABOUT Sev (namkeen) RECIPE

Everyone's favorite authentic clove sev.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Besan (gram flour) 1 kg
  2. Oil for cooking and kneading as required
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Asaefotida 1 tsp
  5. Cloves 12 roasted and crushed
  6. Carom seeds 1 tbsp roasted and crushed
  7. Red chilli powder to taste
  8. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  9. Soda powder 2 pinches


  1. Take gram flour in a big deep bowl to knead.
  2. Add salt to taste, carom powder, clove powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, asaefotida pwd and soda pwd.
  3. Start kneading gram flour with oil (moyan) first.
  4. Add little little amount of oil and keep kneading gram with oil till the gram flour absorbs 60% of oil.
  5. Now take water and knead gram flour further.
  6. The flour must be thick paste form.
  7. Then give it a rest of 20 mins.
  8. Now heat oil in a deep pan(kadhai).
  9. Take the sev making machine and start pouring paste of gr flour with spoon and then close the lid and start making Sev directly in the hot oil.
  10. After a min. Flip the web of sev.
  11. When the color of sev turns pinkish take out the web of sev.
  12. Enjoy the sev with tea, breakfast, lunch or dinner and you can store it in air tight container for max 15 days. Enjoy:blush:
