ABOUT Sweet Sanjeera RECIPE

A traditional evening snacks in Mangalore which is similar to North Indian Kachori. It is crunchy and crispy.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. All purpose flour 1 cup
  2. Medium rava 1/2 cup
  3. Salt 1/2 tsp
  4. Water 3/4 cup
  5. 5 tsp hot oil
  6. For stuffing- Medium rava 1 cup
  7. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  8. Sugar 1/2 cup
  9. Ghee 3 tsp
  10. Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Sieve all purpose flour and medium rava one after the other.
  2. Add salt and oil, mix them in a bowl.
  3. Now add water little by little and form pliable dough just like poori dough. Kneed well and keep it covered at least 20 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile heat a pan, roast the rava in low flame till you get good aroma.
  5. Now add turmeric powder,sugar and ghee.
  6. Switch off the flame . Now stuffing is ready.
  7. Now take the dough and do ping pong sized balls. Roll or press them like poori.
  8. Place 1 1/2 tsp of stuffing in the middle of each poori, lift the edges of each and bring together to seal them separately.
  9. Now keep the sealed portion upper side and roll them slowly and carefully. Repeat the same process to all.
  10. Now heat the cooking oil in heavy bottom pan. Drop the rolled stuffed poori into it.
  11. It will puff up immediately. Turn it to other side and fry till both the side gets golden brown color.
  12. Fry all one by one. Now puffed crunchy Sweet Samosa is ready. Serve in hot.
