ABOUT spinach puri RECIPE

Spinach puris are made by mixing wheat flour with spinach and some simple spices.This can be served as it is without any accompainment or with potato gravy

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 3 cups wheat flour
  2. 3 tablespoon semolina
  3. One cup pureed spinach
  4. Teaspoon red chilli powder
  5. salt as per taste
  6. cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Take 3 cups wheat flour in bowl and add 3 tablespoon semolina,pinch of salt and teaspoon red chilli powder to it and give a mix.
  2. If using fresh spinach, blanch spinach in hot water and blend to paste. I used 10 small blocks of frozen spinach .
  3. If using spinach blocks microwave them for 5 minutes.Use the paste obtained for making puris
  4. Now add prepared spinach paste to flour and mix slowly.Dont add any water to make dough
  5. If dough is sticky just sprinkle little flour and if its dry add tablespoon water
  6. Finally add teaspoon oil and mix everything and make dough.Dough should not be totally soft but little stiff.
  7. Divide the dough in to small balls of equal size.
  8. Now take rolled balls.Dust some flour on rolling surface and roll them using rolling pin.Rolling should not be too thin nor too thick
  9. Heat the oil and fry them.Take rolled puri and add in oil and start pressing at sides once added so that it puffs up
  10. You can eat spinach puris as it is without any accompainment or you can serve with potato gravy
