Shahi Peas Pulao

Ingredients to make Shahi Peas Pulao

  • Basmati rice 2 cups
  • peas 2 cups
  • bay leaf 4
  • cardamom 3 to 4
  • Black cardamom 4
  • cloves 4
  • nutmeg 1/4 tsp
  • mace 1 strand
  • Garam masala 2 tsp (homemade preferred)
  • ghee 3 tsp
  • sugar 1 tsp
  • salt 1/2 tsp
  • oil 2 tsp
  • Grated ginger 1 tsp
  • coconut milk 1/2 cup
  • Grated coconut 4 tsp
  • kaju kismis 1/4 cup

How to make Shahi Peas Pulao

  1. Wash and soak rice for 1 hour. Drain excess water and keep it aside
  2. Heat ghee in a pan. Add all whole spices and roast for 2 minutes until aromatic. Add coconut milk and mix over low heat
  3. Now add the peas and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add little water and mix. Cover and cook over low flame until peas are tender
  4. Add basmati rice with 1 cup water and mix well
  5. Cover and cook for 20 mins. Now add ghee and sugar. Mix well
  6. Sprinkle a little garam masala on top. Garnish with grated coconut and kaju kismis. Serve hot
