ABOUT Spicy Tomato Soup RECIPE

Spike up your regular cup of soup with a hint of Indian flavour.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 6 tomatoes, cubed
  2. 1 cup pumpkin, cubed
  3. 3-4 garlic cloves
  4. 1/2 tsp ginger, grated
  5. 1 red onion, chopped
  6. 1 bayleaf
  7. 2 cardamom
  8. 2 cloves
  9. 1" stick of cinnamon
  10. 2 dry red chillies
  11. 2 tbsp butter
  12. 600 ml water or veg stock
  13. 1/2 tsp pepper
  14. salt to taste
  15. 1 tbsp olive oil to garnish


  1. Heat butter in a deep saucepan. Saute the garlic for a minute, add the onions and saute till soft and transparent.
  2. Add the dry spices, pumpkin and tomatoes, cook on a simmer for 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and add the water or stock.
  3. Cook on a low flame for 8-10 minutes or till it has softened, add water if it's too thick.
  4. Take off the flame, cool and remove the bayleaf. Blend the soup in a mixer or with a hand blender until smooth.
  5. Add water and check the seasoning for desired consistency.
  6. Garnish with a teaspoon of olive oil and serve hot with garlic bread.
