Moong dal khichdi is simple and famous everywhere ,for patient it is recommended by doctors as it is easy to digest;but due to illness patients want something spicy as their mouth taste is changed.so i tried to make simple moong dal khichdi with some acceptable spiceness just to make everyones favourite

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice(ambemohar) 1 cup
  2. Moong dal 1 cup
  3. Chopped vegetables(shimla mirch,carrot,onion,tomato etc as per your choice) 1 cup
  4. 2-3 green chilli's
  5. Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon
  6. 1 1/2 teaspoon haldi powder
  7. 1 1/2 teaspoon hing powder
  8. Jeera 1 teaspoon
  9. Black pepper 1 teaspoon
  10. Green Elaychi 1
  11. Sesame 1 teaspoon
  12. Poppy seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  13. 1/2 inch dalchini stick
  14. Dry coconut 1 1/2 teaspoon
  15. Salt as per taste (2 teaspoon)
  16. A pinch of sugar
  17. Water 6 cups(for cooking only)

Instructions

  1. Wash rice and moong dal and keep it aside
  2. Dry roast all masala ingredients (pepper,jeera,sesame,green elaychi,poppy seeds,coconut)
  3. After cooling of dry ingredients ,grind them
  4. Heat the pressure cooker
  5. Add 2 tablespoon of oil
  6. Add ginger garlic paste
  7. Add chopped or slit green chilli's
  8. Add all chopped vegetables
  9. cook it for 2 min
  10. Add 1 1/2 teaspoon haldi&1 1/2 teaspoon hing powder
  11. Add grinded masala powder
  12. Add soaked rice and dal
  13. Add water (3 times of dal&rice)
  14. Add salt&pinch of sugar
  15. Cover lid of cooker and cook on med-high flame untill 7-8 whistles
  16. After 8th whistle lift the whistle and let vapour go out
  17. Open lid and check consistancy of khichdi as per choice
  18. If it is less add boiled water abd mix well
  19. At last add 2 tablespoon of ghee
  20. Serve hot with aachar,rayta,papad
