Classic Waffles

Ingredients to make Classic Waffles

  • For the Waffle Batter :
  • All-purpose flour 3/4 cup (100grams)
  • Cornstarch 1/4 cup (30g)
  • Baking powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • baking soda 1/4 teaspoon
  • Granulated sugar 1 tablespoon
  • salt 1/2 teaspoon
  • Whole milk 1 cup (235ml)
  • Vegetable oil 1/3 cup (80ml)
  • Large egg 1
  • Vanilla extract/essence 1 teaspoon
  • For the topping:
  • Nutella, 1 jar
  • Fresh strawberries, as required
  • Chocolate Sauce
  • White chocolate chips
  • Nutties or any chocolate balls
  • Gems/M&Ms
  • Dark Chocolate Ice cream
  • Chocolate vermicelli

How to make Classic Waffles

  1. Prepare Batter :
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, cornstarch, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In another bowl or large measuring jug, whisk the milk, vegetable oil, egg and vanilla together until blended.
  4. You can also keep the batter covered in the fridge for up to a week. Just be sure to whisk well before using again.
  5. Make Waffles :
  6. Heat the oven to 200° F and heat the waffle iron. 
  7. Pour the batter onto the heated waffle iron (ours takes about 1/2 cup) and cook until the waffle is crisp and golden brown.
  8. Immediately set the cooked waffle directly on the oven rack to keep it warm and crisp. 
  9. Repeat with the remaining batter, holding the waffles in the oven (try not to stack them). 
  10. Top with nutella, dark chocolate Ice cream scoop, strawberries, nutties, gems, white chocolate balls, chocolate vermicelli and drizzle with chocolate sauce.
  11. Serve immediately.

My Tip:

1. Don’t overwork the batter. 2. You can use any toppings of your choice like butter, honey, maple syrup, berries, etc.

Hi vibha A wonderful recipe n if given by you it's a keeper n I'm sure would be loved by kids. I was looking for a perfect recipe. Just a query if serving immediately is it necessary to put in oven.
