ABOUT Paneer Kofta RECIPE

Another classic Punjabi dish! Deep fried paneer balls in a spiced curry!

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 250 gm Paneer grated
  2. 2 Potatoes boiled and mashed
  3. 3 Tomatoes
  4. 1 Onion chopped
  5. 1 Green Chilli chopped
  6. 3/4 cup Water
  7. 2 tbsp Oil
  8. 2 tbsp Coriander Leaves chopped
  9. 2 tbsp Cashew nuts chopped
  10. 1 1/2 tbsp Besan
  11. 2 tsp Garlic-Ginger crushed
  12. 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice
  13. 1/2 tsp Ginger grated
  14. 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  15. 1/4 tsp Garam Masala
  16. 1 ½ tsp Coriander Powder
  17. 1/2 tsp Dried fenugreek leaves
  18. 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  19. 2 Cloves
  20. 1/2'' inch small piece of Cinnamon Stick
  21. Oil for deep frying
  22. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, take grated paneer,mashed potatoes, green chilli,besan, grated ginger, lemon juice and coriander leaves.
  2. Mix well, and make small flat balls of it.
  3. Heat oil in the pan and fry the koftaS till golden brown.
  4. Grind cashew nuts with 2 tbsp water and grind the tomatoes separately.
  5. Heat 1 tbsp oil in another pan, add cumin seeds followed by cloves, cinnamon and ginger-garlic. Saute for few seconds.
  6. Add onions and cook till golden brown. Add tomato puree, cook for a few minutes.
  7. When oil leaves the sides, add cashewnut paste, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder and garam masala.
  8. Finally add 3/4 cup of water and fenugreek leaves. Bring gravy to a boil.
  9. Add the koftas to the gravy, garnish with coriander leaves.
  10. Serve hot with rice/rotis/parathas.
