ABOUT Menthikura vundalu( methi balls) RECIPE

Its a dish made by fenugreek leaves. Its my family dish where i learnt from my mother in law

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Ingredients :
  2. Onions medium         : 4 to 5
  3. Fenugreek leaves       : 1cup
  4. Chilli powder              : 1/4 tsp
  5. Cumin seeds                : 1 tsp
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Oil                                  : 3 tbsp
  8. FOR BALLS :
  9. Besan ( gram flour)      : 250 GM's
  10. Chilli powder                 : 1/2 tsp
  11. Turmeric                        : 1/4 tsp
  12. Garam masala               : 1 pinch
  13. Ginger garlic paste       : 1/2 tsp
  14. Water for kneading
  15. Salt to taste.

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ball making ingredients in a bowl without lumps.
  2. Add little little water n make it as chapati dough.
  3. Make 1/2 inch small balls as u see in picture.
  4. Keep aside. Finely chop onion's.
  5. After heating pan r kadai pour oil n add cumin seeds.
  6. Add onions n balls.
  7. Add lil salt for onions to cook fastly.
  8. Keep flame in medium n place a lid on pan.
  9. Fry it without lid from now. Stir occasionally n let the leaves fry.
  10. Stir occasionally n let it cook. Clean the fenugreek leaves n keep aside.
  11. When balls r 3/4 cooked ( take a ball n break it u can see a lil bit of rawness in middle of ball).
  12. Then add fenugreek leaves reduce flame to low.
  13. Stir n add salt for leaves.
  14. Add chilli powder stir n remove the lid.
  15. Fry it without lid from now. Stir occasionally n let the leaves fry.
  16. The dish is dry n started leaving oil remove from flame.
  17. Methi balls r ready to serve.
