Gujarati Dhokla is a popular recipe that comes from the Gujarat.It can also be eaten as a breakfast or at the evening tea time snack. It is very delicious and of amazing taste.It has different varieties like from rice flour,udad dal,rava dhokla.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 2 cup besan(gram flour)
  2. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  3. 3 tbsp yoghurt
  4. Salt as per taste
  5. Water as required
  6. 3 tbsp rava(sooji)
  7. 2 tbsp oil
  8. 1/2 tsp citric acid
  9. 2 tbsp sugar
  10. 1/2 tbsp eno(fruit salt)
  11. 1/4 cup water
  12. 2 boria pepper(optional)
  13. 1 dry chilli 
  14. 8-10 Curry leaves
  15. 2 tbsp oil
  16. 1/4 tsp hing
  17. 2 tbsp white til
  18. 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds
  19. 1/2 tbsp mustard seeds


  1. In besan,add rava,salt,citric acid,sugar and turmeric powder.
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients well.
  3. Add dahi and mix well.
  4. Add water and make a smooth batter and make sure there are no lumps in the batter.
  5. Add eno or fruit salt and add a little bit of water and mix well.
  6. Till then grease the tin with oil and pour the batter in it.
  7. Add 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker and remove the whistle.Keep a stand in it.
  8. Place the tin inside.Let it steam mixture for 20 minutes.
  9. After 20 minutes,Open the lid of pressure cooker,insert a toothpick and check if it is made properly.Let it cool for 5-7 minutes.
  10. Take the dhokla mixture in a plate and cut the mixture into square shape.
  11. Heat a pan and add oil,Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let it pop.
  12. Add dry chilli,boria pepper and curry leaves.
  13. Add hing and sesame seeds and mix it well.
  14. Add the tadka in the top of the dhokla.Enjoy this yummy and delicious dhokla!
