Ingredients to make Dadpe Pohe

  • Flattened rice or Poha (thick) – 3/4th cup (washed and drained completely.)
  • Finely chopped onion – 1 Small
  • Finely chopped tomato – 1 small
  • Finely chopped coriander – 1/2 tbsp
  • Roasted peanut (coarsely powdered peanuts) – 1tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • sugar or caster sugar – 1or 2 tsp
  • Grated fresh coconut – 1tbsp
  • lemon wedges
  • For Tempering – oil – ½ tbsp.
  • cumin seeds – ½ tsp
  • mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  • curry leaves – 4-5
  • asafoetida – ¼ tsp
  • Chopped green chillies- 1

How to make Dadpe Pohe

  1. In a bowl take chopped onion, salt, sugar. Rub using fingertips and palm. Onion will release some water.
  2. At this point add Poha, Mix very well.
  3. Add finely chopped tomato, coriander, coarsely powdered roasted peanuts. Mix gently
  4. Add fresh grated coconut. Mix well.
  5. In sauce pan, heat oil, Add mustard, cumin seeds. Let it splutter.
  6. Add curry leaves and asafoetida, Chopped green chilli. Stir
  7. Add this tadka into Poha mixture. Mix well.
  8. Serve immediately with lemon wedges.
