Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Urad dal 1 cup
  2. Rice 2 cup
  3. Salt
  4. Coconut 1 grated
  5. Sugar 1 cup
  6. Baking powder 1 tsp
  7. Oil 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Soak dal and rice for two hours and grind to a fine paste...leave it overnight for fermentation
  2. In a pan heat sugar and coconut
  3. When the sugar caramelises put off the gas
  4. In the fermented batter add salt and baking powder
  5. In another non stick thick bottomed pan put some oil for greasing and put half of the batter
  6. Add a layer of caramelised coconut
  7. Add another half of the batter uniformly
  8. Pour oil from the top
  9. Cook it covered for 25-30 minutes in low flame
  10. Serve with chutney or milk
