Sukha/dry bhel is what we often keep munching with or without feeling hungry and every household has its own version of Sukha bhel. Here’s one mouthwatering recipe you can have without feeling guilty of overeating

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Quick cooking white oats 200 gms
  2. 200 gm green gram sprouts
  3. 100 gm sweet corn boiled
  4. 150 gms whole wheat cornflakes broken in pieces
  5. 1 large onion finely chopped
  6. 1 large tomato finely chopped and deseeded
  7. 1 Tb rock salt/more if needed
  8. juice of 1 large lemon/more if needed
  9. handful of freshly chopped coriander leaves
  10. For sukha bhel Masala/seasoning:
  11. 1/2 cup finely chopped mint leaves (phudina)
  12. 1/4 cup finely chopped coriander (dhania)
  13. 3 garlic pearls
  14. 1 Tb chana daal
  15. 1 Tb roughly chopped green chillies
  16. A pinch of asafoetida
  17. A pinch of turmeric powder


  1. In anon stick pan, dry roast the oats on Low heat for 5-7 minutes/till crisp. keep aside
  2. Dry roast the garlic and chana daal for 3-4 minutes till slightly brown on medium heat. keep aside with masala ingredients
  3. Dry grind the ingredients listed under sukha bhel masala into fine powder without adding any water
  4. In a mixing bowl combine all the ingredients to make the bhel except salt and lemon juice
  5. Add the sukha bhel masala, salt and lemon juice and toss the entire bhel well
  6. Check the seasoning and add more salt or finely chopped chillies if needed
  7. Enjoy!
