ABOUT Diet Bhel RECIPE

Bhel or poha prepared from flattened rice, chopped onion, tomato, coriander, chili, salt sugar, roasted peanuts for crunchiness, lemon juice tastes awesome. It’s healthy and best option for morning breakfast or evening snack. Dadpe Pohe is a popular Maharashtrian and Goan breakfast which is been prepared in the similar way.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Flattened rice or Poha (thick) – 3/4th cup
  2. Finely chopped onion – ½ medium
  3. Finely chopped tomato – ½ small
  4. Finely chopped coriander – 1tbsp
  5. Coarsely ground green chili– ½ tsp
  6. Roasted peanut (coarsely powdered peanuts) – 1tbsp
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Sugar or caster sugar – 1or 2 tsp
  9. Grated fresh coconut – 1tbsp
  10. Lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Take a strainer, add poha or flattened Rice into it and wash it once and set it aside for about 10-12 minutes and let the water drain out completely.
  2. In a bowl take drained poha, add chopped onion, tomato, coriander, coarsely ground green chili, coarsely powdered roasted peanuts, salt, sugar. Mix gently.
  3. Add fresh grated coconut. Mix well.
  4. Serve immediately with lemon wedges.
