ABOUT Quick Bajra (Pearl Millet) Crepe or Ghavan RECIPE

In this recipe I have used pearl millet flour and blended fresh coconut. Fermentation is not required in this recipe. These tastes amazing and goes well with tomato or coconut chutney or any curry.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Bajra/Pearl Millet/Bajari flour– 2cups
  2. Fresh coconut – ¾ (grated and blended)
  3. Water – 1 ¾ – 2 cups to adjust consistency
  4. Oil – 1tbsp for batter + 3-4 tbsp. for greasing
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Serving – Tomato chutney or red chilli chutney.


  1. In a large deep bowl take Pearl Millet / bajra flour, blended coconut, salt and a tablespoon oil.
  2. Add water slowly, adjust the consistency of the batter to ensure it is not very thick not very thin. Keep aside for 15 minutes.
  3. In a heavy bottom nonstick pan drizzle oil. Spread all over with rubber spatula or halved onion. Wipe it out using kitchen towel.
  4. Pour a ladle full or two, batter evenly in a thin round shape.
  5. Cover it with a plate for 2 seconds. Remove plate and flip it when the edges begin to rise from the pan. Cook it from other side too. Drizzle some oil. Cook it on low medium flame.
  6. Serve hot with Tomato chutney.
