Mutton paya soup is a soup or stew made from the legs of lamb.It is also called trotters. This is very healthy soup. This stew or soup can be consumed as it is or can be served with plain boiled rice or with chapati.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 5 Mutton Paya
  2. 2 medium onion
  3. 2 medium tomatoes
  4. 1 table spoon ginger garlic paste
  5. 1 table spoon turmeric powder
  6. 1 table spoon garam masala( home made)
  7. 1 table spoon black pepper crushed
  8. 1 table spoon coriander powder
  9. 1 small cup curd
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Coriander and mint leaves
  12. 2 table spoon oil


  1. Wash payas with running water.
  2. Chop onion and tomato
  3. In a cooker add oil
  4. Once oil is heated add chopped onion
  5. Saute till light golden brown
  6. Now add ginger garlic paste
  7. Add chopped tomatoes and saute
  8. Add turmeric powder
  9. Garam masala powder
  10. Add coriander powder
  11. Now add black pepper crushed or powder
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Now slowly add beaten curd
  14. Once the masala start leaving oil from sides add payas
  15. Stir for 2-3 minutes till all the masala absorbed by payas
  16. Finally add coriander and mint leaves
  17. Mix well
  18. Cover the cooker lid
  19. Take atleast 8-10 whistle on low flame
  20. Serve hot.
