Mutton paya is a great dish as compared to other non-veg items, rich in protein, calcium & mineral, and when saag is combined with it, it really gives a mouth drooling taste, also good for health, must everyone have in winters, good for bones, fights inflammation too.. (recipe for elderly)

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Desi ghee 2-3tablespoon
  2. Sarso [mustard leaves] 1 Big Bunch finely chopped
  3. Palak [spinach] 1 Big Bunch finely chopped
  4. Mutton paya 1 pair of leg
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Red chilly powder 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  8. Onion chopped 1 big ( chopped in square shape )
  9. Green chillies 1-2 chopped finely
  10. Ginger 1 inch (chopped in square shape)
  11. Patanjali wheat flour 1/4th cup (atta)
  12. Amul Butter for garnishing
  13. Water for paya 2 full glass


  1. Clean and wash both the sarso and palak, chop finely, keep aside
  2. On the other side wash mutton paya and keep on sim flame for 30minutes with enough water in which paya can be dipped properly
  3. A proper boiling is needed so that it gets soft
  4. Check with knife
  5. On the other side take cooker put washed sarso and palak to it
  6. Close the lid of cooker
  7. Give 3-4 whistles
  8. After the steam is out, open the lid and put the soft leaves in mixer grinder, make puree of it
  9. Now put pureed mixture into the cooker again
  10. Add red chilly powder
  11. Add salt
  12. Mix well
  13. Add Patanjali wheat flour
  14. Mix well.
  15. On another burner, take kadai add desi ghee
  16. Add chopped onions, green chillies and ginger
  17. This way, put all together
  18. Mix well
  19. Add red chilly powder
  20. Add salt
  21. Add turmeric powder
  22. Now add boiled paya to it
  23. Keep on sim flame for few minutes till it leaves oil
  24. Now add pureed saag to this paya masala mixture, keep stirring till the oil comes out properly
  25. Finally, mouth drooling mutton paya is ready, serve hot garnished with Amul Butter
