Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rajma-1 cup
  2. Oil-1 tbso
  3. Ghee-1 tbsp
  4. Cumin seeds-1 tsp
  5. Garlic-8 cloves
  6. Onion-2
  7. Ginger-1 inch
  8. Green chilli-1
  9. Asafoetida-1/4 tsp
  10. Tomatoes-2 big
  11. Salt
  12. Turmeric-1/4 tsp
  13. Coriander powder-1 tsp
  14. Red chilli powder-1 tsp
  15. Garam masala-1/2 tsp
  16. For rice:
  17. Rice-1 cup


  1. Soak rajma overnight.
  2. Drain the water and put in pressure cooker with fresh water and salt .Cook for about 6 whistles.
  3. Grind ginger,garlic,green chilli and onion into a paste.
  4. Grind tomatoes seperately.
  5. Now take out the boiled rajma in a pan.
  6. Put oil and ghee in the cooker and add cumin seeds on heating.Add asafoetida also.
  7. Add onion garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes.
  8. Add tomato puree and saute for 2 minutes.
  9. Add dry spices and saute till oil seperates.
  10. Now add the boiled rajma and close cooker.Take 2 whistles again so that all the spices are nicely absorbed by rajma.
  11. Make rice by soaking for 30 minutes and then cooking with 2 cups water.
  12. Serve hot rajma chawal with a dash of ghee .
