Ingredients to make khichdi

  • rice 2 cups
  • moong dal 3/4 cup
  • ghee 1 tsp
  • bay leaf 1-2
  • zeera [cumin seeds]1 tsp
  • red chilli 2
  • salt
  • turmeric powder
  • hing [asafoetida] 1/4 tsp

How to make khichdi

  1. boil 6 cups of water in a pan
  2. add turmeric powder,salt and bring to boil
  3. add dal & rice and cook it covered till rice is cooked completely
  4. in another pan heat ghee
  5. add zeera,bay leaf,hing and red chilli and make a tempering
  6. add this tempering to the khichdi and mix well
  7. serve hot with curd or curry
