Chettinad fish curry tasted so yummy like a chicken curry. The aroma was just like that.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Fish – 1/2 kg
  2. Oil – 1 tblspn
  3. Mustard Seeds / Kaduku – 1 tsp
  4. Onion – 1 small chopped finely
  5. Tomato – 1 large cut into long slices
  6. Curry Leaves a sprig
  7. Curry Leaves a sprig
  8. Coriander Leaves – 2 tblspn finely chopped
  9. Tamarind Pulp – 3 tblspn
  10. For Sauteing and Grinding: Oil – 1 tblspn
  11. Fennel Seeds / Saunf / Sombu – 1 tblspn
  12. Onions – 1 large sliced
  13. Garlic Paste – 1 tblspn
  14. Tomato – 1 large chopped
  15. Chilli Powder – 1 tblspn or to taste
  16. Coriander Powder – 2 tblspn
  17. Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi – 1 tsp
  18. Coconut – 1/2 cup grated

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a earthernware kadai. Add in fennel seeds and saute it for a min.
  2. Add in onions and saute for a min. Add in garlic and saute for 30 sec. Add in tomatoes and saute well.
  3. Add in spice powders and saute for a min. Add in coconut and mix well. Take that in blender and puree it well.
  4. Now in the same kadai, add in oil and heat it. Add in mustard seeds and crackle it.
  5. Add in onions and curry leaves. Saute till is golden.
  6. Add in coconut masala and mix well. Cook till oil separates. Add in the long sliced tomatoes and toss well.
  7. Add in tamarind pulp and some water. Mix it well and bring it to boil.
