ABOUT Mongolian Fried Rice RECIPE

A delicious fried rice dish with loads of veggies and flavour. Mongolian fried rice is a recipe of Mongolian cuisine. Mongolian cuisine refers to the local traditions of Mongolia. The extreme continental climate has affected the traditional diet of Mongolia, so the cuisine of Mongolia primarily consist of meats and animal fats. Fried rice is basically originated from China but due to the geographic proximity and deep historic ties with China, Mongolian cuisine is also influenced by Chinese cuisine. You can find the both Mongolian veg fried rice and Mongolian non-veg fried rice in almost every restaurant. You can also prepare it at your home. For Mongolian veg fried rice take a pan, add butter or oil to it, then add chopped ginger and garlic and saute them. Now add the vegetables like broccoli, baby corn, capsicum, red cabbage and carrots, then fry them on the low flame till they become tender. Now add the fried cheese and cooked rice and stir , fry them along with the vegetables. Add the hoisin sauce, salt, chilli paste and tomato ketchup. Mix them well and check the seasoning. And if you want to prepare a Mongolian non-veg fried rice then add meat or prawn or chicken in the place of vegetables. For the better taste try to serve this recipe hot.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Basmati rice (cooked) 250 gms
  2. Broccoli Florets 100 gms
  3. 3 baby corns (sliced)
  4. 1 capsicum, cut in cubes (Yellow, red and green)
  5. Red cabbage 50 gms, roughly chopped
  6. Paneer cubes 50 gms, fried (cottage cheese)
  7. 1 tsp sesame seeds
  8. 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  9. 1 inch ginger, grated
  10. 5 ml hoisin sauce
  11. 1 tbsp butter
  12. salt to taste
  13. 50 ml tomato ketchup
  14. 1 tbsp chilli paste


  1. In a hot pan, add butter and crackle the sesame seeds. Then add the chopped ginger, garlic, saute and cook them.
  2. Then add the broccoli, baby corn, capsicum, red cabbage, a splash of water and cook on a low flame till they become tender. Then add the fried cottage cheese, cooked rice and stir fry along with the vegetables.
  3. Finally, add the hoisin sauce, salt, chilli paste and tomato ketchup. Mix it well and check the seasoning.
  4. Serve it hot for best taste.
