Banana Anarsa

Ingredients to make Banana Anarsa

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • 3/4 cup jaggery
  • 1/4 cup Beaten rice
  • 2 teaspoons ghee
  • 1/4 cup poppy seeds
  • 3 to 4 cardamom
  • oil to fry

How to make Banana Anarsa

  1. Grind rice flour,beaten rice,cardamom and jaggery together in mixer
  2. To get fine powder
  3. Add mashed bananas and 2 teaspoons of melted ghee
  4. Mix well and make a stiff dough
  5. Cover and keep the dough to set for about 8 hours.
  6. Knead the dough gently by applying oil to the palms.
  7. Pinch small amount of dough and make a ball and coat one side with poppy seeds.
  8. Then flatten it into thin small discs on the greased palm gently by using fingertips .
  9. Now slide the anarsa in hot oil and deep fry on low flame until it turns golden brown on both sides.
  10. Remove from oil and place fried anara on kitchen paper towels to remove excess oil.
  11. Continue the procedure for remaining dough .

My Tip:

Anarsa appears slightly soggy when hot as jaggery will be still boiling within, but turns crisp once it cools at room temperature.
