Sweet potato poriyal.

Ingredients to make Sweet potato poriyal.

  • Sweet potato -4
  • turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Redchilly -1
  • curry leaves
  • salt - as needed
  • oil
  • To Grind:
  • coconut - 3 tablespoons
  • red chilly -4
  • Channa dal - 1 table spoon
  • coriander seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • cumin Seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • coriander leaves- to garnish

How to make Sweet potato poriyal.

  1. Take a pan and dry roast red chilly, Channa dal, cumin seeds and coriander seeds till it turns brown in colour.
  2. Add grated coconut and saute for 2 min.
  3. Allow it to cool completely.
  4. Grind all together in a mixie jar to a fine powder. Set it aside.
  5. Wash, peel and chop sweet potato into cubes. Set aside.
  6. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, once it splutters add curry leaves and red chilly powder.
  7. Add sweet potato, turmeric powder and salt. Saute well.
  8. Add some water and cover it with the lid and cook till potato becomes tender.
  9. Now add grounded fine powder and give a quick mix.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  11. Serve hot with rice.
