About Jack fruit idli on leaves Recipe

Different from other idli . It is sweet and made with some twist

Jack fruit idli on leaves

Ingredients to make Jack fruit idli on leaves

  • 2.5 cup ripe Jackfruit pod
  • 1/4 cup jaggery
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 and 1/4 cup semolina
  • Ghee or honey for serving
  • Teak or banana leaves

How to make Jack fruit idli on leaves

  1. Cut the Jackfruit with sharp knife
  2. Separate seeds from pods .do not throw seeds it can be stir fry and made Sambhar from it.
  3. Put pods in mixer & make puree without adding water
  4. Now add jaggery in puree adjust sweetness acc to taste
  5. Transfer the puree in bowl and add coconut,salt and mix it well
  6. Then steam semolina without adding water for 20 min but you need water in steamer
  7. Mix semolina and puree. Idli batter is ready
  8. These idli are usually prepared with teak leaves but you can use banana leaves also or in idli stand
  9. Clean the leaves Put a ladle of batter on leave and fold it
  10. Then put In idli stand and steam for 30 min on low flame
  11. Switch off the flame and keep it cool for 5 min
  12. Then open and serve with ghee or honey
