About Sweet Potato Jamuns Recipe

A mess free dessert with no complications and nobody could findout that this delicious, yummy dessert is made of sweet potatoes.

Sweet Potato Jamuns

Ingredients to make Sweet Potato Jamuns

  • Sweet potatoes 500 gms
  • Milk Powder 5 table spoons
  • sugar 500 grams
  • Green cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Orange food colour a pinch
  • Baking Powder or baking soda a pinch
  • oil for frying

How to make Sweet Potato Jamuns

  1. In a vessel add sugar, pour 2 cups of water and boil till the sugar melts. When it reaches to boil well add the food colour, cardamom powder and switch off, keep aside.
  2. Pressure cook the sweet potatoes, peel off the skin and mash them in a broad bowl.
  3. Add the milk powder and baking powder to the mashed stuff and knead to soft dough.
  4. Grease your palm with oil or ghee and make small balls from the dough.
  5. Heat oil in a pan. Remember not to bring oil to high temperature. Gently drop four or five balls and fry to golden colour in medium flame.
  6. repeat the process with other balls too.
  7. When the balls become warm from very hot drop them in to the syrup. Let them get soaked for an hour.
  8. Now the soft and luscious jamuns are ready.

My Tip:

Instead of milk powder grated paneer or khoya could be added for parties
