Sweet potato uthaappam

Ingredients to make Sweet potato uthaappam

  • Gum dal-1 cup
  • rice-5cup
  • onion-1
  • cumin-2tbsp
  • Sweet potato-2
  • chilli powder-2tbsp

How to make Sweet potato uthaappam

  1. Soak gum dal for 5 hours
  2. Soak rice for 2 hours
  3. Now grind the dal and rice together, make a thick batter and let this ferment for couple of hours.
  4. Heat a pan with some oil. Add cumin seeds followed by onion and fry until golden brown.
  5. Add mashed sweet potatoes and mix. cook for sometime until the mixture is dry enough.
  6. Now heat another pan for the uttapam, grease with some oil. Pour a ladle full of the batter, Let this cook.
  7. Now add the sweet potato topping on the surface of the uttapam. Cover lid and cook on simmer flame and then serve hot.
