A commonly but easily made sweet with coconut and condensed milk, devoured during the festive season.

Ingredients to make coconut barfi

  • 1 cup dessicated coconut
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 Cup Milkmaid
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped nuts ( cashews, almonds )

How to make coconut barfi

  1. Soak dessicated coconut in warm milk and keep aside for half an hour.
  2. In a thick bottom pan, heat up ghee and add coconut milk mixture.
  3. Stir this mix for 2-3 mins on low flame.
  4. Add milkmaid and cardamom powder and keep stirring on low flame.
  5. Add sugar and stir the mix well till it comes whole as a lump and ghee starts releasing from sides.
  6. Put the mix in a greased thali or pan and put chopped nuts on top.
  7. Let it cool then cut into any shape of your choice.
